Syosset High School Theatre Arts program alumni recently visited the school to offer advice, guidance and encouragement to young theatre enthusiasts interested in performance and technical theatre. The impressive group of former Syosset students included Broadway and off-Broadway actors, stage managers, a dramaturgist, a production executive and an assistant sound designer.
Current Syosset students participated in a panel discussion with alumni, who addressed topics such as choosing the best schools/programs, the importance of networking, and the “business” of theatre production. Alumni offered advice to the engaged student audience on many aspects of the theatre profession, including excelling in auditions and training for a film career as opposed to training for a career on stage. Over 30 students attended the event.
