Recommended for: Twelfth-grade students who are interested in preparing for college-level work and enlightened participation in a pluralistic society. Objectives: In this course students evolve as critical readers, thinkers, and writers as they unpack ideas and images depicted in cross-curricular readings and media that not only engage them, but challenge them to reexamine deeply rooted cultural assumptions. Students compose reflective responses on various ideas explored in the course. As a final project, they will choose one central idea on which to write a research-based argument paper, synthesizing information from various sources.
