# #3340 Algebra I CCSS

3340 ALGEBRA I CCSS

Year, 1 Credit, 1 Period

Prerequisites: Math 8 or equivalent

Required for: Geometry CCSS, Geometry CCSS L

Recommended for: This course is a graduation requirement.

Description: The fundamental purpose of this course is to formalize and extend the mathematics that students have previously learned. The critical areas of this course deepen and extend the students’ understanding of linear and exponential relationships by contrasting these relationships with each other and by applying linear models to data that exhibit a linear trend. Students will engage in methods for analyzing, solving and using quadratic functions. Students will master the solution of linear equations and apply related solution techniques and the laws of exponents to the creation and solution of exponential equations. Students also expand their experience with functions to include more specialized functions such as absolute value, step and those that are piecewise-defined. The CCSS Regents examination for Algebra I will be administered in June of this school year.
